Wholesale Cell Phones: Facts About Blackberry

Ever find yourself talking to a customer who always wants to know MORE about the product they’re buying from you? Here are some facts about the Blackberry, in case your wholesale cell phones customers ask.

The Blackberry was developed by a company called Research in Motion, commonly referred to as RIM, which was founded in 1984 by a 23-year-old named Mike Lazardis, an electrical engineering college dropout. Lazardis’s company initially developed corporate automation technologies, and in the late 1980s and 90s, RIM began to focus on technology which would revolutionize wireless networking and communications.

The first Blackberry — the Inter@ctive Pager, also known as the RIM 900 — hit the market in 1996, and it featured Blackberry’s signature full qwerty keyboard, perfect for thumbing, and a small black-and-white screen. In 1998, the RIM 950 was introduced, cost about one-third of the price of the 900, and could send email and faxes. Since then, Blackberry has continued to release new models with updated features, and Blackberry prices have continued to come down for wholesale mobile phones retailers. Today, BlackBerry commands a 20.8% share of smartphone sales worldwide.
